A+E Architects has designed a 2100 SF, 3-bedroom, 2 1/2 bathroom spec house for a 2 acre lot in Brewster with views to Mill Pond. The home is designed to take advantage of passive solar heating, where adequate glazing on the south elevation provides 'free' heating in the winter months. Rooms are arranged to take advantage of the natural lighting and sunroom along the south. The home, as designed, includes a 4.8 kW photovoltaic array that is estimated to produce approximately 5800 kW of electricity annually. This production, coupled with the proposed co-generation heating system, could easily provide all the electricity for the average household.
