A+E Architects completed a conceptual design to convert this existing historic home in Hyannis into a hostel to provide affordable accommodations to travellers. The project will include renovating 2 houses on Ocean Street across from Hyannis Harbor, a small cottage and garage into a 40 bed hostel with staff quarters, common areas including dining and kitchen and a new screened-in porch. |
sustainable features: recycled building materials, built on existing densely developed site, access to public transportation including transportation center and ferry terminals, renewables currently proposed include photovoltaics and solar thermal domestic hot water heating, recycled and rapidly renewable building materials, tighter thermal envelope including new high performance windows, continuous layer of insulation
