A+E Architects completed a plan to convert an existing residential 'compound' on the harbor in Hyannis into a new hostel that will provide 40 beds, a common room, kitchen, dining facilities, staff rooms, and a family cottage. The proposed hostel will provide affordable accommodations to travelers who could otherwise not afford to visit Cape Cod.
sustainable features: recycled building materials, built on existing densely developed site, access to public transportation including transportation center and ferry terminals, renewable's currently proposed include photovoltaics and solar thermal domestic hot water heating, recycled and rapidly renewable building materials, tighter thermal envelope including new high performance windows
