Respect Existing Wetlands: work with local conservation commissions, locate new projects outside of 100'-0" setback from wetlands if possible, do not develop within flood plain or use special details for flood resistance
Reuse Already-Disturbed Land: use sites with buildings already on them, reuse existing footprint of disturbed area, reuse existing concrete foundations, footings and walls, where possible
Link to Public Transportation Infrastructure: provide connection to existing bike trail networks, develop near village centers, connect to bus & ferry routes
Restore Open Spaces: condense new projects on site to allow greater open spaces for natural habitats including plants and animals, preserve as many existing mature trees as possible
Landscape with Native Species: utilize landscaping that enhances the local site, remove invasive species, use species that require low water
Manage Stormwater Runoff: utilize pervious paving whenever possible, create green roofs, drain all roofs on site and not on hardscape
